Sevilla wins 6th title
The final showpiece of Europe second tier league (The UEFA Europa League) between Sevilla and Internationale which was held at the Rheinenergiestadion in Cologne Germany saw Sevilla win five goal thriller…….
A brace from De Jong & a goal from Diego Carlos was enough to cancel out an early penalty from Romelu Lukaku and Diego Godin’s goal.
The First half which was keenly contested saw goals from both side, Inter were the first to find the back of the net through a penalty kick which was converted by Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku, before De Jong scored a brace to give Sevilla the lead. Meanwhile the lead was cut short by an equalizer from inter’s defender Diego Godin. Both teams ended the first half squared.
The second half was started with both teams trying to find the back of the net, but it was Sevilla who had the breakthrough in the 74th minute, as Diego Carlos slotted the ball into the back of the net with a sublime acrobatic kick. And that was enough to give Sevilla their 6th title, the highest in the record of the competition.
Sevilla previously were winners in the year 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015,2016 and now added to their history in the competition by winning this year’s edition.
Antonio Conte’s Men who on the other hand were hoping to bring the title to Italy by ending their trophy drought of 9years were left disappointed ……..
